Blacklight named not-for-profit technology award finalist

Blacklight Software has been named a finalist in the 2022 Digital Technology Leaders Awards for its work with the Outward Bound Trust.

Shortlisted for best not-for-profit project, the award celebrates those using digital technology for everything from fundraising to driving operational efficiencies that mean they have more time, energy and budget to focus on the causes they serve. 

Using integrated intelligence and logic-based rules, Blacklight’s online solution has streamlined and automated the process of gathering, processing and distributing information provided by young people taking part in Outward Bound Trust’s courses.  

Instead of the charity’s team having to individually send, chase and analyse each of the 25,000 paper forms per year, the new Participant Information Form (PIF) only flags up those requiring further action. 

This frees up time, resources and money for Outward Bound Trust’s to target elsewhere and better focus on its mission – to support and inspire young people to overcome obstacles, take advantage of exciting new opportunities, believe in themselves and reach their potential. 

Rob Sharpe, Outward Bound’s Digital Transformation Project Lead, said: “We’re really pleased to see this project recognised in the Digital Technology Leaders Awards. Having been live for 12 months, the benefits delivered by the PIF system are significant. We have reduced tangible costs and improved efficiency, while making the user experience much smoother for our clients.” 

The system is estimated to be saving OBT around £80,000 per year and has made the experience easier for participants who are also saving money in postage costs.
